Today in History started as an iOS app in 2009. It hit the top 10 in Education and has been downloaded over 100 million times. Now it's being rebuilt from scratch. The new stack is Next.js 16 for a programmatic SEO site on Cloudflare Pages, Fastify 5 API with SQLite, and Expo for the mobile app. 200K+ events spanning thousands of years, enriched with AI-generated narratives and cinematic images. Content generation runs entirely local. Qwen 3.5 35B writes editorial headlines and enriched narratives. Flux 2 Klein 9B generates images in a consistent Cinematic Gold style. Zero API cost for content production.
